Yahoo! Answers: Clicking sound when in reverse? Hi, I recently took my car to get a whole new exhaust system. I have a 1998 Dodge Neon, and it has never given me problems for the 2 years that I've had it. I had to take the car back because I was hearing a rattling sound, and it was the heat shield. Now when I am in reverse I am hearing a clicking/popping noise. When I go over bumps I can hear something moving around. It sounds like it is coming from underneath where I shift gears. I am sick of having to take my car in to get fixed because the idiots couldn't fix it right the first time. Thanks, any help is appreciated!
I am no car mechanic but the symptoms of your car obviously tell me that you need to take it back to the repair shop to have your new exhaust system checked. Maybe it affected other parts of your car's system. If you don't trust the same mechanics to solve your car's problem, then it's time to scout for a new mechanic that can repair all the kinks in your car. Do yourself a favor by doing it now.
I think there are just loosened parts in the exhaust system, so it is better for you to bring it in the car shop so they can open the system and see what the really problem is. If it won't work I think you need to get a brand new one. You have the Dodge Neon for two years and that is already too long. I hope everything will go well.
Hi there! Yes, you are right Marynor. I think that you really need to have a mechanic check it again. You also have to make sure of your own safety. It would be best that you seek the help of a professional so that you won't have problems later on. I hope that your car will be fixed soon. I know how this car is important to you. Thank you so much and have a great day!
Hi there! I'm not a mechanic, but I'm used to that sound. Our neighbor is a mechanic of public vehicles. I used to hear same annoying soundS in his area. I once asked him what's the problem , and he always replied that the car is too old for repair. But in your case, it seems that your car is a bit new, I suggest that you should change you mechanic. Thank you so much and have a great day to all of you guys!
It's important to secure your safety above everything. Maybe some parts of your car are damaged and in need of immediate repair. I suggest it would be better if you look for an expert and trusted mechanic regarding this matter. They would surely give the best solution for your problem. Don't bother yourself taking it in people you don't trust. It will just waste your time and effort. I think it would also be best to check and maintain your car daily.
